Photoluminescent Products

When determining if Allureglow USA Photoluminescent Products are suitable for your intended application, you will need to fully charge the sample object by either leaving under artificial light (Fluorescent) for approximately 30 minutes, or in direct sun light for approximately 10 minutes prior to going to bed. Leave the sample object out on your night stand or in a place where it will be visible during the night with the lights off. You will find that the “Initial Glow” after bringing the sample object in from the light source to the dark is extremely bright. This “Initial Glow” will then begin to reduce gradually over the next few hours until it becomes a visually stable “Afterglow”. This “Afterglow” will remain much the same throughout the night until the room becomes light again in the morning. It is this level of “Afterglow” that may determine if the Allureglow USA Product is suitable for your application, as it is most likely that this period of glow is the period that you, the observer, will need to be able to see clearly.

It is important to realize that our eyes take a considerable time to adjust to darkness. The normal time that this takes is around 20 minutes, however it may take as long as 45 minutes for some people with specific visual problems (e.g., color-blindness).This makes it especially important that the Photoluminescent products that you choose possess a high “Initial Glow”  level, and have a long and bright “Afterglow”.

A common mistake made by people viewing Photoluminescent products is that they will charge the product under light, take it immediately into a dark room, and see that it is glowing very brightly (Initial Glow). They will then leave the article in the dark room, and return to the light. Some time later, perhaps an hour later, they will return to the dark room and then find that they can no longer see the article glowing (Afterglow). The reason why this occurs is that our eyes cannot adjust to the light or darkness that quickly. If the person then stays in the dark room, they will gradually begin to see the glowing item as their eyes re-adjust to the dark. Allureglow USA Photoluminescent Products have been developed to give optimum levels of “Initial Glow” and very long and bright “Afterglow”.

It should be noted that our Photoluminescent Products are not able to be Charged or Acivated by LED Lights. This is because Standard Led's don't emit any UV and this is required to Charged or Acivate the Photoluminescent Pigments we use in all of our Products. Standard Fluorescent, Halogen or Incandescent Lights will all Charged or Acivate the Photoluminescent Pigments.

Although the above Test Method may not be considered Scientific, this is the easiest way to compare Reflectivity of vaious Products without having to have expensive Test Equipment or Third Party Lab Testing.
